Mr Omar Khan MA, MB B CHIR, PhD, FRCS (General Surgery), PGCE, PGDip (Law)

Mr Khan is a Consultant General Surgeon with clinical interests including bariatric, gallbladder and hernia repair surgery. He has an expertise in minimally-invasive (keyhole surgery) including ‘scarless’ surgery and has performed over 1,000 keyhole procedures.

He studied at the University of Cambridge, and undertook his clinical training at Nottingham and Southampton (where he completed PhD in obesity and cardiovascular disease) before being appointed a Consultant Surgeon in gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery at St Georges Hospital, London, where he is also the lead general surgeon for trauma.

Mr Kahn is on the National Bariatric Registry Committee (the body responsible for publishing consultant outcomes in bariatric surgery. He also acts as an expert witness for court cases providing specialist opinions on medicolegal cases.

He has an active interest in research and is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at St Georges Medical School. Mr Khan has published over 160 articles and his weight loss research has been published in the Lancet and was featured in national and international press.

Mr Marcus Reddy MBBS, BSc, LLB, FRCS (Eng), FRCS (Gen)

Mr Reddy attained a BSc (Pharm) in 1989 and received his MBBS from St George's Hospital Medical School in 1992. He became a FRCS (Eng) in 1997 and FRCS (Gen) in 2004. He trained in London and Australia where he gained an in-depth knowledge of GI surgery, liver transplantation, hepatobiliary surgery and laparoscopic surgery.

Mr Reddy is fully accredited on the UK General Medical Council's Specialist Register for General Surgery with a nominated special interest in upper gastrointestinal and hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. He is also a member of the committee overseeing the National Bariatric Surgery Database, a Senior Lecturer in surgery at St George's, University of London and an active member at many prestigious associations.

Mr Reddy is the clinical lead for General Surgery in St George's and the Bariatric Surgeon in the department. He has a clinical interest in laparoscopic bariatric surgery in addition to specialist upper GI procedures such as the anti-reflux LINX® device. He performs intra-gastric balloons, gastric banding, gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy and revisional bariatric surgery.

Mr Reddy is one of the busiest surgeons in the UK and is on the 90th percentile for bariatric surgery and is on national committees for bariatric surgery. He has published on bariatric surgery in the Lancet.
